To set up SMS:
1. Request a number from Talkative support - currently it is a manual process for Talkative to provide you with an inbound SMS number. You can also port over your existing number (some regional restrictions may apply). In the USA you can also use "Hosted Numbers" where you keep your phone number for incoming phone calls, but allow Talkative to use it for handling inbound SMS.
2. Talkative will provision you the number and add it to your account. When this is done, go to Settings and search for "Messaging" to get you to "Manage Messaging Service Queue Connections". (You must be an Account Holder).
3. On the "Add Messaging Service" dropdown, click SMS:
4. Then simply connect it to the desired queue. From this point on, all messages sent to your SMS number will be sent through to this queue.
Understanding Short Codes and Their Availability
Issue: You may be considering using short codes for SMS communication and are curious about their availability and cost.
Explanation:
Talkative supports short codes for SMS through Twilio. Short codes are short, memorable numbers (typically 5-6 digits) that are ideal for high-volume SMS campaigns. However, they are significantly more expensive than regular phone numbers. You can view Twilio's pricing for short codes at https://www.twilio.com/en-us/sms/pricing/us
